harmonious balance

The only thing I love more than being affected, is affecting others.
It comes down to sharing our stories, our gifts, our blessings and our challenges.
Listening to others, learning and growing.
Doing your best and then simply letting go.

permalink Sunday Morning - “The Ying and Yang of Life”
Good morning & happy Sunday :-) I was on a treadmill and flipping through channels when I came across a track and field competition. Which I do not normally watch, but one thing stood out and truly made me stop and think: a guy was running a race with two artificial legs. But that wasn’t even it; he was racing against other guys who had both legs. His name is Oscar Pistorius. I went home and search for his story on Google. It was pretty amazing to watch this man run competitively against runners with both legs. But his story was even more amazing. What his parents went through when they decided to have their son’s legs amputated. What he went through growing up, becoming the runner he is today and the controversy of what some feel is him cheating. It reminded me of other life stories. Stories where from the outside looking in, we see an obvious challenge or cross that has to be carried and we assume to know the whole story. But looking deeper, you can see the much bigger picture and how it has truly affected those involved and some of their hurdles you would not have anticipated. What it would be like for parents to decide to have your son’s legs amputated, then see him get picked on, they see him run to victory and success only to be the center of something never before seen and now being highly analyzed and scrutinized. One day you are doing your best and moving along life’s path. Then a moment happens that gives you clarity. Then after awhile you pass the test only to have your new armor tested in a way that you could not have imagined. And once again, realizing nothing is perfect, no place nor person. There are still good and bad days, great moments and sad moments, great stories about individual achievement and horribly sad stories about others. My sister Tami is doing the same as she has for the past few months. She is not getting better but she has been watching her children grow up, which was her prayer 8 years ago when her battle began. It is the Ying and Yang of life. We will be tested. We will be challenged. We will win some and we will lose some. Others will inspire us and others will let us down. What is important is to do what we can, with what we have, to the best of our ability until our time has run out.
