harmonious balance

The only thing I love more than being affected, is affecting others.
It comes down to sharing our stories, our gifts, our blessings and our challenges.
Listening to others, learning and growing.
Doing your best and then simply letting go.

permalink Sunday Morning - “Old Habits”
Good morning :-)
I hope this finds you staying on the “Pro-You” side of thinking and feeling.
Right, wrong, good or bad, we all have old habits. They are like old shoes, they are very familiar, and we have been wearing/doing them for a long time. These are in part, due to our environment growing up, our parents, our siblings, our lack of siblings, lack of parents, the friends we had, the schools we went to and the choices we made. All of these helped shape us into who we are, today. At difficult times in life, say a test, we resort to what is familiar; we put on the old shoes, we fall back into old habits, fully aware of the damage they will cause us. We have a bad day, moment, week, we get down and decide it’s okay to now make a worse decision and make ourselves feel even worse than we already do. We all do it. We all have them. We all just need to put on new ones! Build/create new habits!
“Seven days to instill a habit. 21 days to break one”
The more time, effort, mindful thought and better decision making we put into getting comfortable putting the new ones on, the less time we will have to slip on the old ones. Whether it is dance, a foreign language, painting, riding a horse, whatever we aspire to be good at will only be reached with frequency and consistency. Repetitive behavior. But that is it. Anything pursued passionately will be acquired. So as it was for the old habits, we can and will instill new ones, if and only if we deem ourselves worthy of that effort.
May you be the best you can today, do the best you and let the rest go… :-)
