harmonious balance

The only thing I love more than being affected, is affecting others.
It comes down to sharing our stories, our gifts, our blessings and our challenges.
Listening to others, learning and growing.
Doing your best and then simply letting go.

permalink Sunday Morning _ “Be Thankful”
I’m sure you’ve had a morning where you feel like nothing’s going right, everything is difficult and takes longer. That was my Sunday morning. I didn’t get the message done and was running late for church. I walk in late and sit down. One of the first lines I hear is:“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you”(I Thes 5:18)Right away I thought “What?” I get trying to do your best but being thankful for everything..? Really??? Then my pastor continued. He pointed out the most important word in the verse “in”. We are to be thankful in all circumstances, not for ALL circumstances. And that’s when the light went on. I say this all the time to my clients. We never know why we go through a test. But two things are certain, one, we will get through it and two, we will learn the “why” in it.I watch a show called Biker Build-Off on The Discovery Channel. A legendary builder named Indian Larry passed away on the last show he taped. I have seen it a couple of times but the last time I remembered two things he said. One was when he lost his little finger on his one hand. He said how great it turned out to be, he could fit his hands in smaller spaces that other guys couldn’t. Then he added, it seems every time we go through something we either learn from it or come out better off because of it.So when in a test, if we can stop for just a second, breathe and look at the big picture, I’m sure we would see in many instances, it is not truly that bad, it could be worse. Therefore we should be thankful in those very moments.May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving and remember all the reasons in your life to be thankful! And do your best to remember that the next time you find yourself in a test…
