Sunday Morning - “We are not alone”
Good morning & happy Sunday :-)
I have been sharing in one way or another for a very long time. Obviously it is something I am passionate about. But another great reason I love to share is that it simply lets people know that they are not alone. No matter what crazy, scary, challenging place one may find them self, typically some one else has been there and done that. I refer to these as patterns in life. And when you start to recognize them, you will begin to see them in other’s lives as well. Which simply reiterates my point that none of us are truly alone in our experiences, and that, is a very comforting thought.
For example, my brother had met a girl traveling in Mexico. She was from Switzerland. After a short time of long distance dating, he ended up moving to Switzerland and getting married. After a year or so, he wasn’t able to grasp the language completely and could not find steady work so he and his wife moved back to the states. He & his wife got jobs, a place to live, dogs, they had it all. But they soon realized that having it all wasn’t really important if they were not happy where they were living or what they were doing. His wife missed her small town and they both missed the lifestyle in Europe, especially the ease of traveling. After a two-year stay, they finally moved back to Switzerland and couldn’t be happier. They went through a lot contemplating moving back, especially from our family. But, the second time was the charm and for whatever reason they both knew it this time. They had to walk their path, no matter what anyone else thought.
No one could ever tell another to walk the path they have walked, but funny how life is…
Earlier this year I met a trainer at the gym. It took one conversation and we both knew we were “brothers from other mothers.” He had just moved back from Hawaii where he had spent the last ten years. He had a wife and baby now and came back to the California to get ahead (sound familiar?) and now they were just missing Hawaii. So I shared with him the story of my brother, who had basically done the exact same thing and was now the best he had ever been. The look on my friend’s face said it all, someone understood his struggle and shared a similar pattern with him. He was not alone, not every one would agree, but if he followed his heart… where would the failure be?
Remember, no matter what you may be going through, you are never alone. When you feel like you are, ask Him to comfort your fears and then trust in your heart.
peace & God bless in two thousand & zen
