Sunday Morning - “Pi”
Good morning, I hope this finds your world spinning perfectly on its axis!
A few weeks ago I wrote about my neighbor and her dog. Well, I finally introduced myself and told her I had written something and sent her the Sunday Morning message. Her & “Pi” (spelled correctly now) have been great getting to know and when she emailed me back I thought a follow-up would be cool. So, here is…
“Thanks so much, Tom! That made my day!!! What a beautiful message. Not very many people want to pet Pi, so I was surprised and delighted by your reaction to him. I forget how he appears to everyone since I just see my dog and not something different, so people’s reactions can be surprising. I didn’t realize I hadn’t told you Pi’s story. I’ve had Pi about 3 years. He was hit by a car 5 years ago and was found on the street by a vet tech who took him to an animal hospital where they amputated his leg and rehabbed him. He was fostered at Urban Dog, a doggy day care who sometimes adopts out dogs, for 2 years before he came into my life. They named him Pi after the number - 3.14. A lot of rescued 3 legged dogs have funny names - I once met one named Trip. I’ve attached a photo of Pi for you as well, in case any of your readers are curious what he looks like. Kyosa was beautiful, and it sounds like he really meant a lot to you. I’m glad that Pi found a new friend in you!”
Pi now runs to me every time I see him & gives me one kiss on my face. I had been going through a difficult time and looking back I can see how consumed I was, how distracted I was from all the good around me. I needed to get help and did. Now there are moments like meeting Pi & my neighbor filling my life and they are all gifts.
Deem yourself worthy of the consistent effort to make pro-you decisions. Doing this repetitively will make this more familiar, which means more comfortable, which means more confident, which means more peaceful, which means having the ability to be present and in the moment.
Here lie blessings for us all :-)
