Sunday Morning - “Wasted Energy”
Good morning & happy Sunday…
It was a little chilly this morning but I went for a walk earlier and part of me really likes the crispness of the cool air. You can take the boy outta’ the Midwest, but, well - ya know. I was thinking about the message today and I feel the older I get, the more repetitive I become in my way of thinking. It does seem to get somewhat clearer with more experience, if ya know what I mean :)
One analogy that I have repeated many times to many people is that of wasted energy. I believe we get up each day with “X” amount of energy. How we feel, what we do, where we go and whom we interact with all use that energy. You may deem some things, people or moments more important than others and put more energy into them. But one thing never changes; if we put our time, energy, thought, effort into anything negative, that energy is gone and will not return to us. In reverse, if we put our time, energy, effort, love and positive thought into positive things, people or places, I truly believe that energy will come back to us as our reward for that effort.
So, if we get up w/ 100% of our energy and at some point disperse 25% of that energy into a negative moment, or worrying about something that ‘might’ happen (but hasn’t yet & may never), or try to change someone else, or try to change the past or even this morning, that energy is gone… forever. We still got through the day and 75% of our energy went into good things. At the end of the day that 75% energy has returned to us as a 90% return, our reward. Not bad – right? But, what if all 100% went out that same day and we did not allow any of our time, energy or effort to go into empty, negative, potentially draining moments, thus allowing the entire 100% to go into positive moments with positive people? What if that 100% positive output stimulated 125% return to us as our reward? Which would you prefer 90% or 125%? Rhetorical, I know…I’m just sayin’.
May you deem yourself worthy of putting all of your energy into pro-you, positive, fulfilling, truthful, loving, memorable and rewarding moments with those that you love and those whom love you.
